Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un set for meeting in Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will be meeting face-to-face by the end of the month.

North Korean state-run media announced Monday that Kim will travel to Russia for a summit with Putin. Although North Korean media didn’t give a date, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the two will meet by the end of April.

Kim’s chief aide was seen in the Russian city of Vladivostok on Sunday, leading to speculation the meeting will be held in the city, located north of North Korea on Russia’s Pacific coast.

It was not immediately clear what the two leaders will discuss.

The meeting comes after the summit in Vietnam between President Trump and Kim in February, where Trump walked out after the two sides were unable to come to terms on a denuclearization deal.

Last week, North Korea test-fired what state media dubbed a “new-type tactical guided weapon.” Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan said the test was of some sort of tactical or battlefield weapon, not a missile that would violate Kim’s self-imposed moratorium on testing intercontinental ballistic missiles.
