The NFL regular season doesn’t begin for another week, but the Baltimore Ravens have already lost an important team member.
Poe, the Ravens mascot, will now sit out due to an injury suffered during halftime in last weekend’s game against the Washington Commanders.

The tongue-in-cheek announcement about Poe missing the season was announced by head coach John Harbaugh on Thursday.
“Poe is going to be put on injured reserve for the rest of the season,” Harbaugh said. “Unfortunately, he sustained a serious injury to his drumstick. He will not be able to perform for the rest of the season.”

The team is expected to hold tryouts for a new person to play Poe in the meantime.
Baltimore’s first home game of the season will take place on Sept. 18 against the Miami Dolphins.
