A lot of these guys could stay around

The Redskins’ shopping list in free agency includes finding a back with speed (Darren Sproles, perhaps?), more offensive linemen, perhaps a linebacker and maybe a blocking tight end. But they also need to decide what they want to do with their own players.

Unrestricted free agents » Center Casey Rabach, defensive end Phillip Daniels, punter Hunter Smith, long snapper Ethan Albright, left tackle Levi Jones, offensive lineman Mike Williams, end Renaldo Wynn and tight end Todd Yoder.

» Daniels is close to signing a deal; Rabach is in discussions with the team; and Albright, though he hasn’t heard from them yet, wants to return. Smith was hurt last season but is dependable when healthy.

Restricted/unrestricted (based on the CBA’s lack of an extension) » Quarterback Jason Campbell, safety Reed Doughty, defensive tackles Kedric Golston and Anthony Montgomery, linebacker Rocky McIntosh, corner Carlos Rogers and offensive lineman Will Montgomery. The Redskins have tendered McIntosh, Doughty and Golston and would receive second-round picks as compensation if another team signs them. It’s a standard deal. The big question is what happens with Rogers and Campbell. Will another team pursue either one? Few wanted Campbell last season.

Restricted (regardless of the CBA) » Defensive tackle Lorenzo Alexander, tackle Stephon Heyer and linebacker/defensive end Chris Wilson. All three are likely to return, though Heyer is not suited to start. Wilson and Alexander are backups who help on special teams. They’re both big guys who run well, something every special teams coach wants.
