Al-Shabab terrorist cell discovered in Uganda

A terrorist cell has been discovered in Uganda, leading the State Department to warn Americans there to stay hidden or flee.

“Today Ugandan authorities reported the discovery of an al-Shabab terrorist cell in Kampala, Uganda,” the U.S. Embassy in Uganda said on its website Saturday.

“Investigations continue into what appears to have been planning for an imminent attack… At this point we are not aware of specific targets.”

This morning, it said that “Ugandan authorities are conducting operations against a suspected terrorist cell in Kampala.”

The terrorist faction al-Shabab has vowed revenge after the US killed its leader Ahmed Abdi Godane.

Four years ago, it was linked to related bombings targeted at World Cup fans at an Ethiopian restaurant and a rugby club in Kampala, according to the BBC.

The action comes two days after the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
