Trump offers condolences to British Prime Minister Theresa May after terrorist attack on London train

President Trump on Friday called British Prime Minister Theresa May to express his sympathies and prayers for those who were injured in the morning terror attack on a London Underground train.

“The president pledged to continue close collaboration with the United Kingdom to stop attacks worldwide targeting innocent civilians and to combat extremism,” the White House said.

An improvised explosive device detonated on a train at the Parsons Green station in Southwest London, injuring 29, according to reports.

Police said they are treating the incident as a terror attack.

The president posted several tweets about the London attack earlier Friday morning, suggesting in one that the perpetrators of the attack were “in the sights of Scotland Yard.”

In another, the president indicated the terrorists were recruited online and said the Internet must be “cut off.”

When asked about Trump’s tweets, May said it is “never helpful for anybody to speculate” on an ongoing investigation.
