Morehouse College professor and liberal CNN commentator Marc Lamont Hill said Monday it was “condescending” and “demeaning” for President-elect Trump to meet with black celebrities as part of an effort to reach out to black communities.
Hill described Trump’s meetings as with “a bunch of mediocre negroes being dragged in front of TV as a photo op for Donald Trump’s exploitative campaign against black people …” He said it would be more productive for Trump to bring in black scholars to gain perspective on black issues rather than celebrities like comedian and talk show host Steve Harvey.

He named Georgetown professor and liberal commentator Michael Eric Dyson as a better example.
“To keep bringing up comedians and actors and athletes to represents black interests is demeaning, it’s disrespectful and it’s condescending,” said Hill. “Bring some people up there with expertise, Donald Trump, don’t just bring people up to entertain.”
Trump met with Harvey last week and after the meeting in Trump Tower, Harvey told reporters the two had discussed ways in which the popular daytime TV host could work to improve inner-city housing.
Harvey also said that the meeting was facilitated by both President Obama’s team and Trump’s. Harvey endorsed Hillary Clinton in the election.
