“Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Avengers” actor Dave Bautista thinks more than one wrestler would make a better president than Donald Trump.
“You were recently talking about The Rock possibly being a good president. Do you think he might enter the race?” asked journalist Nicholas Ballasy, while Bautista was promoting his new movie, “Stuber.”
“I didn’t just come out and say, ‘Hey, guys, I think The Rock could make a great president.’ I think I was asked what I thought,” Bautista said.
“And I think — I think I said that I just, I think he’d be a better president than our current president. I think he was — I think I said he was much more qualified and I believe he is,” he said, adding he also believes fellow actor Kumail Nanjiani and he himself would be more qualified.
Bautista told Entertainment Weekly in 2017 he thinks Johnson “would make a hell of a president. I’d put him in office right now, as the alternative — in a heartbeat.”
At the time, Bautista explained why he was starting to speak out against Trump, who, unlike Johnson and Bautista, is in the WWE Hall of Fame for his contributions to sports entertainment.
“I haven’t been in the past, and I haven’t been recently, until this administration,” Bautista said. “It’s just gotten to be so drastic that I feel everyone needs to stand up and put it all out there, man. It’s a huge turning point for us and our nation. [Trump] is not qualified. You would probably still make a better president of the United States than we currently have. That is terrifying!”
Johnson has teased the idea of running for president in the past, at one point calling it “a real possibility.”
