Sen. Elizabeth Warren is slated to release a children’s book about a woman running for president.
The book, Pinkie Promises, is authored by the Democratic Massachusetts senator and is illustrated by Charlene Chua, who identifies as nonbinary, according to the artist’s Instagram profile.
The book follows the main character Polly who “knows she’s strong and capable” but is rejected by those she offers help to and is told, “That’s not what girls do,” according to a webpage about the fictional children’s story.

In her presidential campaign, @SenWarren inspired girls across the country to pursue their passions. Now, in her picture book with @charlenedraws, she expands on that by showing girls how strong they truly are. “Then one day, Polly goes to a rally to meet a woman who’s running for president, and they make a pinkie promise to remember all the things that girls do,” a description of the book said. “Polly carries that promise with her at school, onto the soccer field, and even into an election for Class President!”
The book’s cover features a cartoon caricature of what appears to be Warren meeting the fictional character Polly, suggesting the senator who ran and lost her bid for the 2020 presidential office is the female candidate hinted at in the book’s description.
