Trump announces campaign rally in red state where Democratic senator is up for re-election in 2018

President Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign announced Friday an upcoming rally in North Dakota, where incumbent Sen. Heidi Heitkamp will face off against the Trump-endorsed Rep. Kevin Cramer in the November election.

The rally will take place in Fargo on June 27, and “President Trump is looking forward to visiting states such as North Dakota that are critical to the GOP maintaining and expanding its majorities in the House and Senate,” Michael Glassner, COO of Trump’s campaign, stated Friday.

He added that the “rally will be a high energy experience for the patriots in the great state of North Dakota who will be there with us.”

Trump congratulated Cramer on his victory over Thomas O’Neill in North Dakota’s GOP primary on Tuesday.

“Congratulations to @KevinCramer on his huge win in North Dakota,” the president tweeted. “We need Kevin in the Senate, and I strongly endorse him.”

“Heidi voted NO on our Tax Cuts, and always will vote no when we need her. Kevin is strong on Crime & Borders, big on Cutting Taxes!”

Cramer declared his candidacy in February at the urging of the president.

Trump won North Dakota in the 2016 presidential election by 36 points.
