Boris Johnson’s spokesperson said Friday that the United Kingdom prime minister disagreed with Sen. Lindsey Graham’s call for the Russian president’s assassination.
A reporter asked the spokesperson whether he agreed with Graham’s Thursday tweet, encouraging a “Brutus” to do a “great service” and “take this guy out,” referring to President Vladimir Putin. Johnson’s spokesperson responded in the negative.
Is there a Brutus in Russia? Is there a more successful Colonel Stauffenberg in the Russian military?
The only way this ends is for somebody in Russia to take this guy out.
You would be doing your country – and the world – a great service.

“We stand with the Ukrainian people in demanding the immediate end to the Russian invasion,” the spokesperson said. “We have said before Putin must be held [to] account in front of an international court for the horrific acts he has committed.”
PUTIN ‘OVERESTIMATED’ MILITARY MIGHT AND ‘UNDERESTIMATED’ GLOBAL RESPONSE
Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov condemned the senator’s tweet in a Facebook post Friday.
“I find the statement of the American politician to be unacceptable and outrageous,” Anotov wrote. “The degree of Russophobia and hatred in the United States towards Russia is off the scale. It is impossible to believe that a senator of a country that [promotes] its moral values as a ‘guiding star’ for all mankind could afford to call for terrorism as a way to achieve Washington’s goals in the international arena.”
“It becomes scary for the US fate, which is run by such irresponsible and unprofessional politicians,” Antonov continued. “We demand official explanations and a strong condemnation of the criminal statements of this American.”
Graham defended his tweet Friday, calling Antonov “the mouthpiece for Putin” and accusing him of having “no moral standing.”
