Sully is in the Capital

He’s been one of the most sought-after interview guests since he famously landed his Airbus A320 in the Hudson River on Jan. 15, and tonight Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenburger will be a guest of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., at President Barack Obama’s first address to Congress.

Pelosi has invited Sullenburger and the rest of the crew of Flight 1549 to be her guests for the big speech. The group will be seated in the public viewing gallery overlooking the House floor, where the speech will take place.

Since the famous crew will not be guests of the president, it’s unlikely he will give them a shout-out in his speech.

Pelosi has also invited former House Speaker Tom Foley, D-Wa., former House Rep. Lindy Boggs, D-La., who was also ambassador to the Vatican, and civil rights leader Dorothy Height.

Sully and the crew were in the Capitol Tuesday morning testifying about the successful landing before a House aviation committee. The captain warned the pilots are being forced out of the business by significant cuts to pay and pension.
