Ever since he was a child, melodies have spontaneously played in Kevin Bacon?s head.
Growing up, he?d share those melodies with his brother, Michael, who would shape the random notes Kevin heard into songs.
“There are 7 million singers that can sing me off the stage,” Bacon said. “I have rudimentary guitar skills. But what I think I do have is the ability to write some good songs.”
Indeed, Bacon?s songs are far from what some listeners might think the celebrated actor and director would create ? compelling stories told from a common vantage point.
So just how does a Hollywood icon relate so closely to the everyman?
“Without passing judgment, I just watched the reports of the violence and the anger and the disillusionment,” Bacon said. It was a time when a lot of people thought it was cool to insult the crowd. I just thought about what it would be like to travel all that time and have that happen.”
That perspective has gained the brothers a following of their own, Michael Bacon said.
“When we first started, the people who attended our shows came strictly to see Kevin the movie star,” he said. “Now people come to hear and see The Bacon Brothers.”
