USEC Inc., a Bethesda-based international energy company, announced that it earned nearly $5 million more in net income for the first quarter of 2007, compared with a year earlier.
For this quarter, USEC reported a total net income of about $39.3 million, compared with $34.6 million during the same period in 2006. Revenue also experienced a boost, up $103.7 million to $465 million.
Reasons for the increases include reduced impact from rising electric prices and purchase costs from Russia, a major supplier of resources to USEC.
