SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Utah Jazz have assigned rookie guard Kevin Murphy to the Reno Bighorns of the NBA Development League.

The Jazz drafted the 6-6, 185-pound guard No. 47 overall in June but he has played only nine minutes in three games and scored four points.

Murphy played four seasons at Tennessee Tech and averaged 15.8 points and 4.2 rebounds a game and finished his career there second on the school’s all-time scoring list with 2,019 points.

Murphy is expected to be in uniform for the Bighorns on Friday in their season-opener against the Santa Cruz Warriors.

He is the sixth player in Jazz history to be assigned to the D-League and first since Jeremy Evans in March 2011.
