HOLIDAY HILLS, Ill. (AP) — Authorities are conducting a massive search in McHenry County for a man suspected of shooting two sheriff’s deputies with a rifle when they responded to a domestic dispute.

McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren (NEYE’-grin) says 52-year-old Scott Peters is “armed and extremely dangerous” and they don’t know his whereabouts. The sheriff says deputies are going door-to-door in the small village of Holiday Hills to make sure everyone is safe. Nygren says Peters is wanted on two counts of attempted murder for shooting the deputies during the 1:30 a.m. Thursday incident.
