Saudi Arabia tells citizens in Lebanon to leave the country

Saudi Arabia has told its citizens who are living in or visiting Lebanon to leave the country “immediately,” according to a report.

A statement broadcast by the state-run Saudi Press Agency called on Saudis who are currently in Lebanon to depart and also warned them not to travel to the country, according to the Associated Press.

Tensions between Saudi Arabia and Lebanon have been mounting, and Lebanon’s prime minister, Saad Hariri, announced Saturday he was resigning from his post.

Hariri said he believed the country had been “taken hostage” by Hezbollah.
