Hillary Clinton’s campaign in waiting is moving into current White House politics by joining President Obama’s fight to win Senate confirmation of his embattled pick to be the next attorney general, Loretta Lynch.
Ready For Hillary, the group that has mostly promoted their pick for president in 2016, late Tuesday shifted focus with an email campaign to help Lynch, held up in the Republican-controlled Senate.
Taking their cue from Clinton, they wrote, “Yesterday, Hillary called out congressional Republicans for blocking a ‘great nominee for attorney general, Loretta Lynch. Republicans in the Senate have said they still won’t consider Loretta’s confirmation — even though it’s been FOUR MONTHS since she was nominated by President Obama.

“Tell Republicans in Congress: Put partisan politics aside and confirm Loretta Lynch. We need Loretta as our next attorney general.”
As with Clinton’s top issue being a focus on women and getting a female in the Oval Office, Ready For Hillary also made her confirmation out to be a gender and race issue.
“Her confirmation would be a huge step towards shattering the glass ceiling — she would be the first female African American woman to ever hold the post of attorney general,” said the group’s email.
Lynch’s nomination is being held up by an unrelated legislative battle. Senate Republicans first want to approve an anti-human trafficking bill that includes restrictions on funding for abortions. Democrats have blocked that bill.
