Technically, we are told, it is simply “the Open.” Or, perhaps, “The Open.” Maybe even “The Open.”
Whatever. By any name it is a pretty good golf tournament. One of the four majors and it is being played on the Old Course at Saint Andrews, which is sort of like the Vatican of golf. Because of the time difference, the first players tee it up before most Americans opened their eyes and the action takes place during working hours.
