Trump touts being ‘financially brave’

Donald Trump described himself as “financially brave,” on Thursday night, all while remaining the first GOP presidential candidate not to disclose his tax returns since Gerald Ford for fear of a purported IRS audit.

Trump praised the veterans sitting behind him onstage in North Carolina, and spoke about Medal of Honor recipients’ bravery in relation to his own work as a businessman.

“We’re joined by a number of those admirals and generals and seven Medal of Honor recipients right behind me,” Trump told the crowd. “Oh they’re so much more brave than me, I wouldn’t have done what they did. I’m brave in other ways. I’m brave. I’m financially brave. Big deal, right? These are real brave.”

Trump’s humble tone was met with howling cheers from the crowd as he proceeded to identify the people onstage behind him.

With little more than four days remaining until the election, it appears unlikely that the GOP nominee will choose to release his tax returns and let voters fully assess his financial bravery.
