Two more arrested by UK police in connection to Texas hostage situation

Police in the United Kingdom arrested two more men in connection to the hostage situation that took place at a synagogue in Texas earlier this month.

The two men were picked up in Manchester and are being held for questioning, according to a statement from the Greater Manchester Police. It is unclear what their believed connection to the case may be.

“Communities defeat terrorism, and the help and support we get from the public is a vital part of that,” police said in a statement.

Six people have been arrested in connection to the hostage incident on Jan. 15, two of whom have since been released.

U.K. police said they are working with U.S. law enforcement to investigate the circumstances surrounding Malik Faisal Akram, a 44-year-old British citizen, holding four people hostage inside a synagogue in Colleyville, Texas.

Following an 11-hour standoff, police said Akram was dead and that all four hostages were safe.
