A drug suspect stuck two Baltimore City police officers today with his SUV as they attempted to arrest the man. Shortly before 1:30 p.m. two police officers were attempting to arrest a drug suspect in the 900 block of East 33rd Street in Baltimore, police said.
The suspect was in a late model Infiniti SUV and struck the officers in an attempt to escape, said Sterling Clifford, a Baltimore police spokesman.
Steve Mahan, 37, a 12-year veteran of the force, sustained a serious injury to his left leg that requires surgery.
Clifford said Mahan is undergoing surgery this afternoon at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
The other officer, Gus Passamichalis, 42, a 16-year veteran, has a less serious injury to his right leg.
Police have recovered the vehicle that struck the officers. The suspect is still on the loose.
