There’s a hunt afoot for the new athletic director of D.C. Public Schools, school officials announced, following Marcus Ellis’s resignation earlier this month.
In the meantime, former Eliot-Hine Middle School Principal Willie Jackson will serve as the interim director of school sports “to ensure no interruption of programming as we head into school opening and as DCPS interviews potential candidates.”
But who will fill the perma-shoes?
“The position … seeks an instructional leader and manager with a full understanding of the potential of an athletic program to generate a sense of community at DCPS and bolster student achievement,” according to a release issued by Fred Lewis, spokesman for Chancellor Kaya Henderson.
Henderson is ensuring “an open and competitive process”; candidates can fill out applications online.
