Student shot at Coolidge High School

One student was shot in the leg and another was in custody after an altercation at Coolidge High School in Northwest D.C. on Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

The shooting occurred at 3:18 p.m. — just three minutes after students were let out of school — at 6315 Fifth St., police said.

The victim was shot in the leg, according to D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier, but was expected to recover. Police are searching for another suspect, an adult male last seen running towards the Takoma Metro station.

Montgomery cop pulled gun during Terps game

An off-duty Montgomery County Police officer is under investigation after he allegedly drew a gun during a traffic dispute at the University of Maryland.

The incident happened about 1:20 p.m. Saturday, near Byrd Stadium in College Park while the Terrapins played Connecticut in football.

The officer is accused of striking a man with his vehicle’s sideview mirror, either clipping the man in the hand or hitting a water bottle, university police said.

The officer accused the man of throwing the water bottle and got out of his vehicle, police said. A scuffle ensued, and the officer drew his weapon, police said.

Police would not release the officer’s name because he has not been charged.

Montgomery County police said internal affairs is coordinating with university police.
