The prolonged absence of Inspector General Hilton Green has stalled the investigation into fake tickets issued by Baltimore City parking enforcement agents, sources said.
Four months after Green took a leave of absencefrom his post as head of the city agency charged with investigating city employee fraud, officials have declined to say when and if the probe will be completed.
The investigation into fake parking tickets issued by city agents began more than six months ago, after Mayor Sheila Dixon asked Green to initiate the probe. Her request followed a series of Examiner articles in which city Department of Transportation officials admitted at least one agent had written fake parking tickets.
One month after the investigation began, Green fired an agent he suspected of writing fake tickets.
Recently the mayor said Green was on medical leave after undergoing a “complicated procedure.” But city officials have declined to elaborate on Green?s condition or when ? and if ? he will return.
Phone calls made to the Inspector general?s office seeking an update on the investigation were not returned.
