White House adviser Valerie Jarrett made a cameo appearance as herself on the CBS hit, “The Good Wife,” Sunday night.
Jarrett’s role was to encourage the main character Alicia Florrick, played by Julianna Margulies, to run for public office.
“I wanted to encourage you to run. The only way women are going to change the world is if they step up,” Jarrett said on the phone with Florrick.
Florrick said she didn’t want to run because she hates politics and Jarrett said that was what makes her perfect for the job.
“I do too, Alicia. The last person I’d vote for is someone who liked politics – we have enough politicians,” Jarrett said. “We need leaders who actually understand what it means to be a public servant.”
On Twitter, Jarrett tied her role on the show back to a favorite White House and President Obama line, “When women succeed, America succeeds.” This line is frequently used in Obama’s calls for equal pay.
