A testy interview with “The Today Show” would have gone better if Rand Paul had his coffee.
The presidential candidate touched on his rocky exchange with Savannah Guthrie of Today earlier this week while speaking with Chuck Todd during an interview that aired on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday.
“I think some interviewers can be better sometimes, but politicians can be more tolerant at times,” Paul said in Las Vegas.
During the interview with Guthrie, Paul accused her of editorializing while asking him questions on his prior positions regarding foreign aid.
Paul also had another run-in when he shushed a female CNBC anchor who was asking him about his stance on vaccines.
The Kentucky senator said that for most of his professional life, he was a doctor who gave direct answers. He said that questions about how he has changed his rhetoric or opinion “ticked me off, then I push back for better or worse.”
“Welcome to the NFL,” Todd responded, hinting that these were the questions he will receive now on the campaign trail.
