Actress Liz Sheridan died of natural causes on Friday, five days after her 93rd birthday.
Sheridan was known for her role as Jerry Seinfeld’s mother on his sitcom Seinfeld. She’d first appeared in the series’ second episode of its first season, playing Seinfeld’s mother from the start in 1990 until 1998.
The only other characters with more seniority on the show than Sheridan were Jason Alexander, Michael Richards, and Seinfeld himself.

Previously, Sheridan was an accomplished Broadway actress, appearing in Happy End alongside Meryl Streep. During the time she lived in New York, she famously dated actor James Dean, writing a book on their romance, Dizzy and Jimmy: My Life with James Dean: A Love Story.
