Reporters were warned Wednesday about chasing senators in “large and aggressive” crowds that have started congesting hallways on Capitol Hill.
The warning came in a letter to news publications from the directors of the Senate Press Gallery, which oversees the credentialing and rules for reporters covering the Senate.
“We understand the increased demand for reporting at the Senate,” the letter said. “However we are concerned about everyone’s safety. Collectively, the press following senators have become large and aggressive. We are concerned someone may get hurt.”
Reporting on the Hill has intensified as journalists swarm Congress to get on-record statements from representatives and senators reacting to the latest developments in controversies currently engulfing President Trump and the White House.
