Gateway Art’s District Open Studio Tour, Saturday One of the area’s growing art scenes is located in Prince George’s County.
Seriously.
This Saturday, see for yourself at the Gateway Art’s District Open Studio Tour. The event includes studios in Brentwood, Hyattsville, Mount Rainier and North Brentwood.
According to John Paradiso, Gateway Community Development Corporation’s program and facility manager, the neighborhoods have historically boasted a number of artists. More recent years have shown an influx of development.
“Let’s make it where there’s enough room for artists to come in and make it nice, and have economic development come in next to us,” Paradiso said of the neighborhood.
This is the eighth year the area has hosted a studio tour, and the event will include a trunk show and live performances. The day concludes with an opening reception and afterparty at the 39th Street Gallery.
“It’s a great way for the artists to process the day and come together,” Paradiso said.
More than a hundred artists will participate at 70 studios in 17 venues. All are welcomed to attend.
“Last year we had our biggest year ever,” Paradiso said. “I’m hoping this year tops it.”
