President Obama became the latest to rap Hillary Clinton over the joke about “CP time” in a comedy sketch earlier this month.
“I do apologize, I know I was a little late tonight,” Obama said during his routine at the White House Correspondents’ dinner Saturday night. “I was running on CPT, which stands for ‘jokes that white people should not make.'”
“CP time” or “CPT” is an abbreviation of “colored people’s time” and is understood to be a racial stereotype about black people being late.
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, whose family is interracial, was the one who uttered the crack about “CP time” during a skit with Clinton after a delay in endorsing her bid for president. Clinton subsequently placed the blame for the controversy on him.
