Mugshots of Jack and Leslie Johnson released

Mugshots of former Prince George’s County Executive Jack Johnson and his wife Leslie from their November arrest have surfaced.

Jack Johnson on Tuesday pleaded not guilty in federal court to charges of conspiracy, extortion and bribery as well as witness and evidence tampering. An eight-count indictment accuses him of taking bribes from county developers and businessmen throughout his tenure.

“We’re going to fight,” Jack Johnson said of the charges Tuesday outside U.S. District Court in Greenbelt. “My reputation is at stake. Everything’s at stake.”

Leslie Johnson, a County Council member, has been charged — but has not been indicted — on federal tampering charges after the FBI said it secretly recorded the married couple discussing ways to hide and destroy bribes.

According to transcripts of the recordings, Jack Johnson told his wife to flush a $100,000 check down the toilet and to stuff $79,600 in cash into her bra while FBI agents knocked on the door of their Mitchellville home.

The mugshots were obtained from the Department of Justice by the website Talking Points Memo.
