Man survives 4-story jump from Metro garage A man jumped from a Metro parking garage midday Tuesday in an apparent suicide attempt but survived the four-story fall, according to transit agency. The man jumped from the top of the six-level parking garage at the Franconia-Springfield stop of the Blue Line around 12:15 p.m., Metro spokeswoman Cathy Asato said. Metro officials believe the jump was intentional from witness reports, Asato said. The man’s name and age were not released.

East Coast Rapist suspect could be extradited to Va.

The man authorities believe is the East Coast Rapist — responsible for a string of attacks between 1997 and 2009 — could soon be extradited to Virginia, after having been held in Connecticut since his arrest there in March. Connecticut wants to extradite 40-year-old Aaron H. Thomas, a prosecutor told the New Haven Register. The state had initially declined to extradite Thomas to Prince William County. Prince William County prosecutor Paul Ebert told The Associated Press on Tuesday that he petitioned to have Thomas returned to Virginia, where he faces potential life sentences, as soon as possible. Thomas and his attorney intend to fight the extradition and seek a speedy trial in Connecticut, the Register reported. East Coast Rapist attacks have been reported in Maryland, Virginia, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
