White House press secretary Jen Psaki is pinning blame on “tricky” steps for President Biden’s fall as he walked up the stairs to Air Force One on Friday.
The White House previously blamed windy weather for knocking the 78-year-old president off balance as he departed for Atlanta, Georgia.
On Monday, during her daily briefing, Psaki was asked about the president’s health following his fall.
“He’s 100% fine,” she said. “I don’t know if you’ve been up those steps. They’re a little tricky sometimes.”
WHITE HOUSE CALLS EARLY ‘LID’ AS PRESSURE GROWS ON BIDEN
Biden was boarding the aircraft at Joint Base Andrews when he stumbled. He gripped the railing, regained his balance, and tried to keep going but lost his footing a second and then a third time.
America’s oldest president managed to recover and saluted from the top of the steps before entering the plane.
Psaki headed off questions about whether Biden was checked over by a doctor.
“I’m not aware of that being required,” she said. “There’s, of course, a doctor who travels with the president, any president of the United States, but I’m not aware of it needing actual, extensive medical attention.”
In November, Biden suffered a hairline fracture in his right foot playing with his dog Major. He landed, during the Friday fall, on his left leg. He jogged in view of journalists traveling with him once the executive jet arrived in Atlanta.
Earlier, the White House had blamed blustery weather for the mishap on the stairs.

“It’s pretty windy outside,” deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters aboard Air Force One. “It’s very windy. I almost fell coming up the steps myself.”
