CNN analyst tells black Fox Nation host he benefits from ‘white privilege’

A CNN analyst accused a black Fox Nation and Sirius XM radio host of benefiting from “white privilege.”

While a guest on David Webb’s radio show Tuesday, Areva Martin said he was able to hold the beliefs he has on how race affects obtaining a job because of his “white privilege.”

“I have chosen to cross different parts of the media world, done the work so I am qualified to be in each one. I never considered my color the issues, I considered my qualifications the issue,” Webb said during a discussion on what makes people more qualified for certain jobs than others.

“That’s a whole other long conversation about white privilege, the things that you have the privilege of doing that people of color don’t have the privilege of,” Martin said.

“How do I have the privilege of white privilege?” Webb asked.

“David, by virtue of being a white male you have white privilege,” Martin, who is also black, said. “This is a whole long conversation, I don’t have time to get into it.”

Webb interjected to inform his guest that he is in fact a black man.

“Areva, I hate to break it to you, but you should’ve been better prepped. I’m black,” Webb said, to which Martin said she stood corrected.
