Carson says Bill Clinton’s sex life is fair game

Dr. Ben Carson said former President Bill Clinton’s sex life is fair game in the campaign for the White House, but said the bigger issue is a question of the country’s values.

“Is this America any more?” Carson asked during Thursday night’s Republican presidential debate. “Do we still have standards? Do we still have values and principles?”

Carson pointed to divisive comments on news stories on the Internet and protests over racial, gender and income inequality issues, among others.

Carson has been a champion of evangelical Christians during the campaign and he seemed to play to those voters by saying the spirit of divisiveness he sees gripping the country didn’t come from the nation’s “Judeo-Christian roots.”

“We have people at each other’s throats and our strength is actually in our unity,” he said.

Carson called on conservatives to stand up for what they believe in and issued his rallying cry against political correctness.

“We need to start once again realizing there is such a thing as right and wrong,” he said, “and let’s not let the secular progressives drive that out of us.”
