Bloodstained clothes of Connecticut mother of five found in trash as husband appears in court

Arrest warrants for the estranged husband of Jennifer Dulos, a mother of five who has been missing for a week, and his girlfriend allege the two discarded clothes and sponges soaked with her blood.

Fotis Dulos, 51, and Michelle Troconis, 44, dumped garbage bags of clothes and household items in more than 30 trash receptacles in Hartford, Conn., over a four-mile stretch, the same day Jennifer went missing, police said.

Security camera footage, which caught them discarding the trash bags, shows a black Ford F-150 Raptor. The car was traced back to Fotis. Investigators found two Connecticut license plates that were changed with adhesive and tape.

State forensic teams determined Jennifer Dulos’ blood was on the clothes and other items from what appeared to be an attempt to clean her home in New Canaan after what appeared to be a cleanup effort following an altercation.

“Based upon the crime scene processing, investigators came to the consensus that a serious physical assault had occurred at the scene, and Jennifer Dulos was the suspected victim,” the arrest warrant said.

Jennifer Dulos, 50, is the mother of five children between the ages of 8 and 13: Petros, Theodore, Christiane, Constantine, and Clea-Noelle. Jennifer and Fotis split in 2017 after she accused him of having an affair and have been embroiled in a contentious custody battle.

She was reported missing on May 24 and was last seen driving her 2017 black Chevrolet Suburban after dropping her children off at school. She missed several appointments later that day and was reported missing early that evening.

According to an affidavit filed in June 2017, Jennifer said that she feared for her life and was worried her husband would try to harm her. She also claimed he engaged in “irrational, unsafe, bullying, threatening and controlling behavior.”

Court documents show Fotis Dulos warned he would take the children to his home country of Greece so his estranged wife would “never find us.” The couple shared custody of the children but were trying to figure out who the kids would see during holidays and who would take them to school.

Fotis Dulos and Traconis were arrested Saturday and charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and first-degree hindering prosecution. Police said additional criminal charges are expected.

The two appeared in Norwalk Superior Court on Monday. Traconis was released after posting bond, and Fotis Dulos is staying at a correctional facility. They will appear in court again next week.
