The United States shot down a third flying object this weekend on Sunday afternoon. It is also the fourth object the U.S. has shot down since a suspected Chinese spy balloon was shot down on Feb. 4.
The latest takedown, which occurred over Canadian airspace, was announced by Rep. Jack Bergman (R-MI) in a tweet, who said he has been in contact with the Department of Defense regarding operations occurring near the Great Lakes in Michigan.

“The US military has decommissioned another “object” over Lake Huron,” Bergman said. “I appreciate the decisive action by our fighter pilots. The American people deserve far more answers than we have.”

A congressional aide confirmed to the Wall Street Journal that the object was shaped like an octagon and had an altitude of 20,000 feet, posing a hazard to commercial air flights.
This is the third object to be shot down this weekend and the second to be shot over Canada. The U.S. shot down an object over Alaska on Friday and over Canadian airspace on Saturday.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) announced the object’s takedown on Twitter.
“Our national security and safety is always a top priority,” Whitmer said. “I’ve been in contact with the federal government and our partners who were tracking an object near our airspace. I’m glad to report it has been swiftly, safely, and securely taken down. The @MINationalGuard stands ready.”
