Dim Bulb: Rep. Rush Holt, D-N.J.

WHAT: Thinks Washington should spend more now because in World War II the national debt “was significantly larger as a share of our economy in 1944 than it is today.” WHY IT’S DIM: Uh, no, congressman, actually it wasn’t. As RedState.com’s Daniel Horowitz points out, the debt-to-GDP ratio in 1944 was 97.6 percent. Today it is 100.5 percent.

CURE: Always check your math twice, congressman.
