WHO: U.S. Department of Agriculture WHAT: Granted more than $15,000 to the Red Caboose Winery, in Texas, for assistance with energy costs. The winery uses 100 percent geothermal heating and cooling, collects its rainwater, recycles its barrels, and composts its waste. WHY IT’S AN OUTRAGE: USDA praises the winery as the most environmentally sustainable in Texas, which really means it’s sustainable as long as taxpayer dollars fund it through USDA grants.
