The New York Times is reporting that President Donald Trump will keep James Comey on as FBI Director for the foreseeable future.
The Times reports that Comey made the announcement during a weekly conference call with senior employees last Wednesday, two days before the president’s inauguration.
During a Blue Room ceremony honoring first responders last Sunday, President Trump made special mention of Comey and, according to the New York Post, gave the FBI Director a “prolonged handshake and whispered in his ear, before proclaiming, “he’s become more famous than me.”
When Comey decided not to pursue criminal charges against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton last July, Trump criticized the decision, and Comey, via Twitter.
FBI director said Crooked Hillary compromised our national security. No charges. Wow! #RiggedSystem

The system is rigged. General Petraeus got in trouble for far less. Very very unfair! As usual, bad judgment.

The Inspector General of the Justice Department is investigating Comey’s handling of the investigation into Clinton and her use of an unauthorized, non-government email server during her tenure at the State Department.
