President Trump tweeted his endorsement of South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster ahead of the state’s Republican gubernatorial primary on Tuesday.
“Henry McMaster loves the people of South Carolina and was with me from the beginning,” POTUS tweeted during his Saturday flight to Singapore ahead of his summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. “He is strong on Crime and Borders, great for our Military and our Vets. He is doing a fantastic job as your Governor, and has my full endorsement, a special guy. Vote on Tuesday!”

McMaster — then lieutenant governor — was elevated to the state’s highest executive office when President Trump tapped former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley to serve as the U.S.’ Ambassador to the United Nations.
This is his first gubernatorial campaign.
He is facing a crowded primary field on Tuesday, including sitting Lt. Gov. Kevin Bryant, former state public health chief Catherine Templeton, businessman John Warren, and former Democratic state lawmaker and lieutenant governor Yancey McGill.
McMaster has been a vocal supporter of the president dating back to the 2016 election.
