Infant’s body discovered in Va. garbage truck
The body of an unidentified infant was found in the back of a garbage truck in the Falls Church area. The baby appeared to be newborn boy, with no obvious injuries, said Kraig Troxell, spokesman for the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. Most of the truck’s stops Saturday were in Sterling, before crossing the Fairfax County line, Troxell said. The truck driver summoned Fairfax County officers to the intersection of Utterback Store Road and Neha Court, where the baby’s body was found in the container of the truck. D.C. police look into homicide
District police are investigating the death of a man who crashed into a parked vehicle about 6 p.m. Saturday in Southeast. When officers got to the scene on the 2200 block of Prout Street, they discovered the driver, 23-year-old Marvin Leon Carter, had what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head, Sgt. Joe Gentile said.
Bicyclist killed in Northwest
A sport utility vehicle struck and killed a bicyclist in the District on Sunday morning. Rescuers provided CPR, but the man was killed almost instantly, D.C. Fire spokesman AlanEtter said. The man, who appeared to be in his 40s and has not been identified, was struck about 9:15 a.m. The cyclist was crossing 14th Street when a 1999 Honda Passport traveling south hit him.
Ex-D.C. fire sergeant arrested
A former D.C. fire sergeant was arrested Saturday morning on a charge of indecent exposure. Darryl Green, 42, turned himself in following a warrant being issued for his arrest, according to a statement released by Mayor Adrian Fenty. Green resigned from the department a few weeks ago, Fire Department spokesman Alan Etter said. He could not confirm whether Green’s arrest is related to recent allegations of sexual misconduct within the fire department. – Maria Hegstad
