Ever since inauguration, when Hollywood and D.C. have come together, they seem to have done so on our turf. Not on Wednesday night, when the Artists & Athletes Alliance brought five top political minds from D.C. out to the Four Seasons in Los Angeles for a briefing on President Barack Obama’s first hundred days.
Honorary co-chairs Jason Alexander and Kelsey Grammer welcomed Mark Halperin from TIME magazine, CQ Weekly editor David Hawkings, CNN Political Editor Mark Preston, Democratic strategist Marla Cardona and Republican strategist Alex Castellanos, along with more than 130 actors, writers, directors, studio execs and agents.
Steven Ross, executive director of the nonprofit Alliance, said, “The Obama Presidency has generated tremendous excitement from all levels of the hollywood community.”
Meanwhile, back in D.C., MPAA President Dan Glickman echoed the sentiment. “I think it’s pretty good right now,” said Glickman, speaking about the relationship between Washington and Hollywood at Wednesday night’s “Politics on Film” panel discussion. “I think there’s a love affair between Hollywood and Washington and that will always be the case.”
