President Obama on Wednesday predicted that Americans will elect more racially diverse presidents in the future now that they’ve seen the nation’s first African-American commander in chief.
“I think we’re going to see people of merit rise up from every race and faith corner of this country because that’s America’s strength,” the outgoing Democratic president told reporters.
He continued, “If in fact we continued to keep opportunity open to everybody, we’re going to have a woman president, we’re going to have a Latino president. We’ll have a Jewish president, a Hindu president — who knows who we’re going to have.”
“I suspect we’re going to have a whole bunch of mixed-up presidents at some point and nobody will know what to call them, and that’s fine,” Obama added.
