President Trump escalated his feud with the U.S. intelligence community Wednesday by saying the act of leaking classified information is “un-American.”
“The real scandal here is that classified information is illegally given out by ‘intelligence’ like candy. Very un-American!” Trump tweeted.

Trump feuded with the intelligence community during the transition over reports about Russian interference in the presidential election, often putting the word intelligence in quotation marks. He later accused the media of making up the feud and said he loved the intelligence community.
However, reports published Tuesday night about his campaign’s connections to the Russian government seemed to have changed Trump’s mind. Many Republicans agree, and say it’s time for an investigation into who is leaking information that has proven damaging to Trump’s new administration.
New reports indicate that Trump campaign officials were in constant contact with the Russian government during the campaign. The news came a day after Mike Flynn resigned as national security adviser over reports he had discussed President Obama’s sanctions with the Russian ambassador to the U.S. before Trump took office.
