Joe Biden is ‘Bernie Sanders on steroids,’ says Trump

Former President Donald Trump dismissed President Biden as “Bernie Sanders on steroids” in a Monday interview, warning Republicans are in danger of failing to prevent Democratic attacks on the Second Amendment or their pursuit of liberal policies more broadly.

In an interview with Fox News, his second media appearance of the day, he also highlighted the crisis at the border with Mexico.

With Republicans struggling to land blows on Biden’s $1.9 trillion spending bill, with its $1,400 checks for millions of people, Trump took it upon himself to reappear as his party’s most effective attack dog.

“I never thought that Biden in a million years would be worse … nobody did … would be far worse than Bernie Sanders,” he said. “This is Bernie Sanders on steroids.”

TRUMP COURTS BILLIONAIRE BACKERS AS HE PLANS SOCIAL MEDIA RETURN

He was also interviewed by Fox News’s Lisa Boothe for a podcast launched on Monday, in which he rehashed his claims that the 2020 election was rigged and criticized his former vice president as well as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

At the same time, he is talking up a return to social media and announced his backing for a Republican challenger to Brad Raffensperger, secretary of state in Georgia. Raffensperger became a Trump hate figure after refusing to support false claims that the state’s 16 Electoral College votes were stolen from the former president.

Speaking to Fox News’s Harris Faulkner, Trump warned that McConnell was not strong enough to halt Biden’s agenda.

“There are ways to stop some of this stuff that’s happening, but you’re going to see packing the court, you’re going to see the biggest tax increase in history, you’re going to see the Second Amendment just absolutely obliterated, you’re going to see many other things. … The Green New Deal will be put into effect,” he said.
