Members of the National Guard deployed to Washington, D.C., following the siege of Congress got a pleasant break from their duties on Friday with a visit from a pack of therapy dogs.
A group of therapy dogs from an organization called People Animals Love came to greet National Guardsmen still serving in the nation’s capital. Twelve pups swarmed the Hamilton Hotel, according to Cheddar, much to the delight of the service members.
Thousands of National Guard troops came to Capitol Hill to secure the area during President Biden’s inauguration after the riot that took place on Jan. 6 at the U.S. Capitol caused the Secret Service to determine additional security measures would be necessary.
Since then, members of the community have been trying to show their appreciation by bringing Guard members food and other treats.
