In the last decade or so, early voting, absentee voting, and voting by mail have become popular options for people to cast their votes. In fact, now up to 40 percent of Americans are voting by methods other than their traditional polling places. Yet those options have not had much of an impact on voter turnout.
So, what does the future of voting look like? How are polling places mitigating wait times and lines, and what are the best practices to accommodate voters efficiently during election days?
