Sports journalist Jason Whitlock called antifa the “modern-day KKK” and said that it does not benefit black people during an interview with President Trump.
“Antifa, to me, is the modern-day KKK,” Whitlock said during the Wednesday interview.
“They are a terrorist, domestic organization. They’re out doing things, they’re saying are for the benefit of black people, that are not benefiting black people.”
“Can we get the Democrats to denounce antifa? Can we get lawmakers to really go after this group? They are tearing our country apart,” the OutKick columnist added.
Trump agreed with the assessment, telling Whitlock, “You’re so smart, and you’re so right. And antifa is a disaster. It’s so bad for so many people, including, I think, the Democratic Party.”
Whitlock joined Fox News’s Tucker Carlson later on Wednesday to discuss the interview, and he added that support among black men for the president is growing.
“I think there’s some clear momentum for President Trump, particularly, I think, with black men,” Whitlock said.
“I think we have been carrying on a facade for three-and-a-half years as black men that somehow we can’t relate to Donald Trump. That we didn’t celebrate him in hip-hop music for decades. That he wasn’t friends with countless black athletes, entertainers, celebrities.”
“So there’s been a charade, I think, particularly among black men, pretending that they don’t have something in common with President Trump, and that facade is starting to end,” Whitlock said.
