Trump charges Biden reliant on aides for any ‘sophisticated’ statements

President Trump said he can tell when former Vice President Joe Biden’s attacks on him are penned by aides because of the argument’s complex reasoning.

In a Fox and Friends interview Monday, Trump said, “I watch these critiques of me, and they’re highly sophisticated critiques when they’re written out. ‘Joe Biden has said.’ … I said Joe Biden didn’t write that statement. I guarantee he didn’t even see that.”

Trump has indicated he will make Biden’s mental capacity, which some observers believe to be declining, a central focus of his campaign against him.

Leading political figures often have their most complex ideas written out for them by aides. Trump himself often reads from a teleprompter or a page when talking about policy.

Biden, the likely Democratic presidential nominee, called on the president to increase and provide free coronavirus tests and treatment, increase hospital beds and facilities for sick patients, and surge medical personnel to areas in need of assistance.

On one occasion, Biden called for Trump to invoke the Defense Production Act, but Trump had already done so.

Trump also said that the White House was thinking about providing hazard pay for front-line health workers, possibly “through the funding of hospitals” tasked with providing bonuses. “We’re looking at that,” Trump said.
